Puppy-Family Matching Process
Step 1
During the matching process, families play a vital role. We match puppies based on the temperament and energy of the puppy.
We have had close interaction with our puppies from birth and are confident in our process & pairing families with their perfect pup.
Step 2
It is important we get to know not only the puppies, but also our puppy families. We want to understand their lifestyle/activity level, experience with dogs, and home environment (children ages, etc). Once the puppies are 6 weeks old we will invite the family for a visit. This will help us get to know each other better and gather anymore needed information.
We encourage families to have an open mind towards gender, color, and other traits of the puppy. of course there are preferences, however we match based on temperament, energy, and lifestyle needs first. We want the family and puppy to thrive, so not to overlook these important details.
Daff-O-Doodles reserves the right to hold/keep a puppy from any of our litters for our Breeding Program. Please contact us if you are interested in being a part of our Guardian Program.
Step 3
At 7 weeks we test puppies temperament using the AVIDog Aptitude Test, we reserve the first spot from every litter for our program until testing is complete.
We will then start the reservation process in the order of applications & deposits received.
There are often several puppies that would be a good match for a family. In this case we will give the family the opportunity to meet via FaceTime or Zoom to choose from the few we selected for them. We love to share about our puppies personalities, this will help the family make their final selection.
We try and move though this process quickly so that no one family has to wait too long to choose their puppy. This is an exciting time for all & we strive to make this experience fun & engaging.
Step 4
Once a puppy has been matched to their forever family, the balance of the payment is due within 48 hours. We except Venmo, PayPal, Wire Transfer, or Cash as forms of payment.
Puppies are ready to go home at 8 weeks. We will schedule a pick up time, which includes go home training, introductions, “Adoption Day” pictures & and time for questions. Please set aside 1 hour for pick up.
